PhD thesis title: Estimating productive vocabulary using models extrapolated from ecology.

Abstract: The thesis evaluates the reliability and validity of three ecological models that have been adapted to estimate vocabulary size. It concludes that they have significant potential as a measurement tool. However, it is obvious that important issues remain concerning the accuracy of the estimates and the validity of the models when extrapolated into a lexical context.
